Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 13: A foot bridge in Rajouri which was damaged during 2014 floods is yet to be completed.
According to locals, after this bridge was damaged in floods, the government has ordered that this bridge should be completed on a fast track basis.
“This bridge connects dozens of villages in Rajouri district. During all these years many people lost their lives. This bridge is the midpoint between Andarola and Kallar.”
A Sarpanch while talking to a news channel said, “Due to this bridge not being constructed people have been disconnected from their relatives.
It’s unfortunate that in the past seven years this bridge has not been completed. I request the administration to complete this bridge at the earliest. The contractors who were assigned to build this bridge should be black listed.”
Another local said, “This bridge was constructed in 1981, but in 2014 floods this bridge collapsed. For the past seven years we have been running from pillar to post this bridge constructed but no one is listening to us.”
He said, “If the administration wishes this bridge can be completed within 6 months but it seems officials are not interested.”
Another resident said, “Out of 12 months, the work goes on for 2 months and for the next 10 months officials and contractors forget it. Check the police records and you will find out how many people have drowned in the nallah in absence of this bridge.”
