| People of J&K suffering due to bureaucratic rule: Usman Majid | | |

JAMMU, Jan 25: Former Minister and Ex MLA Bandipora Usman Majid in a statement issued to media said that Jammu and Kashmir is facing a crisis like situation under the bureaucratic rule. There is no accountability in the administration as a result of which the people are suffering on all fronts.
Majid said that the connect of the bureaucracy with the people is all time low, which has impacted the governance hugely. The administrative and developmental inertia has led to a chaotic situation. In the current spell of LG rule, the people have no access to top echelons of the administration.
He said all sectors of public service are in shambles and the people have been left in lurch. Nobody is bothered to take cognizance and note of the problems faced by the citizens, he added.
Majid said holding of assembly elections is a must to restore the confidence of the people of the UT. An elected government is answerable to the people and the bureaucracy has no such accountability. Therefore, they do work as per their wishes and it has made the people suffer and the developmental projects to delay, Usman Majid said. He alleged that the officials have failed to perform on the ground and it has attracted displeasure of the people who avoid going to the government offices for their work as no one listens to them. The civil secretariat which used to be flooded with the people from all parts of J-K wears a deserted look. The developmental works have stopped, and unemployment has increased, he said. Taking a dig at administration Majid said that doing away with Article 370, it seems, has done little or nothing to make government officers accountable. Corruption continues in public authorities. Had the Government been sincere about eradicating corruption from J&K, it could have been done within months, he added
