BJP will continue endeavour to address long-standing inequalities against women: Kavinder
1/25/2022 11:27:41 PM

EARly Times Report

Jammu, Jan 25: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has welcomed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s decision to provide 15 per cent reservation to womenfolk in non-gazetted posts in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department.
In a statement issued to media here today, Kavinder Gupta asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party stands fully committed to women empowerment and shall leave no stone unturned in doing full justice to the women in the society who have been deprived of their due rights despite their tremendous contribution in building the future citizenry of the nation.
The BJP leader, while lauding the Lt Governor’s significant decision, said that it is undoubtedly a landmark decision that will go a long way in further strengthening women empowerment in J&K Union Territory. He added that LG has laid a strong foundation for ensuring end to discrimination against the weaker sex not only in employment but in every field of life. It is the beginning of a journey in the direction of bringing gender parity in the society. He said that as affirmed by the LG himself the government is determined to increase it further in the future.
The former Dy Chief Minister said that this decision will undoubtedly ensure the availability of sufficient women personnel in the J&K police force to deal exclusively in the matters pertaining to gender-based crimes. He said that the successive Govts in the erstwhile failed to do any justice with the women folk and despite several assurances before 2019 the matter of reservation for women in J&K Police was never addressed. Now it has been made a reality by the BJP led Union Govt in complete synchronization with the UT Government as part of its strong commitment towards women empowerment.
Kavinder reiterated that the BJP Government at the Centre will continue its endeavour to address the long-standing inequalities to build a more just and resilient society.
