| GDC Pouni organizes essay competition on World Cancer Day | | | Early Times Report
POUNI, Feb 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Pouni organized an online essay competition on World Cancer Day. World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4 to raise awareness of cancer and encourage its prevention, detection and treatment. Essay competition was organized in language of preference including Hindi, English, Punjabi, Dogri and Urdu. Students were requested to send their essays on a WhatsApp number. A number of students from the college participated in this contest. The event took place under the patronship of Principal Prof. Rajni Bhagat, who stressed the need of organizing more such activities so that students be made more aware of their surroundings. The participants were judged by Prof. U S Liza, HOD English who was the incharge of the event too. The event was very well-coordinated by our senior Professor Balbir Kumar, and Prof. Tarseem Kumar, Prof. Jaspal Singh, Prof. Bindu Sharma, and Prof. Sanjogita Kumari being the Professors of different language departments played a vital role by encouraging their students to participate more and more in such events confidently. Gurleen Kour and Rohit Kumar of 3rd Semesters and Aditi Mangotra of 1st Semester remained top 3 contestants, who were given e-certificates too. |
