After CAG’s exposure ex-DGP under scanner for “scam”

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 8: After Comptroller and Audit General (CAG) exposed a scam in Prime Minister’s Development Package meant for maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir, a former Director-General of Police (DGP) is under scanner for his “dubious” role in the alleged misappropriation of funds.
The self-proclaimed ultra-nationalist top cop was at the helm of the affairs during the period when this “scam” was exposed by the CAG.
According to highly placed sources this same top-cop under whose tenure these bunglings were committed, is now lobbying for an important position in Jammu and Kashmir.
These days he is very active on social media to give an impression that he is an “ultranationalist” but CAG’s exposure is likely to haunt him in the days to come.
As reported by The Early Times CAG has revealed various contradictions and anomalies in the utilization of funds released by the Centre for maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to reports, a project worth Rs 500 crores was approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs in October 2017 for procuring a high-end security system to be completed by March 2020.
During its scrutiny, CAG detected that purchases worth Rs 100 crore were made without inviting tenders and this was a violation of rules and regulations.
