Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 6: State President of J&K Shiv Sena Unit, Manish Sawhney, on Sunday demanded free electricity and power for the people of the Union Territory.
Sawhney, who led a protest of Shiv Sena workers here, said, “J&K has a potential to generate 20000 Megawatts of power and is providing electricity to many states across the country.
If the states which don’t even generate one Megawatt are giving 300 units of free electricity to their people why can’t J&K government do the same despite having resources. In J&K people are being made to pay electricity charges through their nose, ” he added.
Sawhney said, “Smart City cannot be made by erecting boards and fountains. For building the Smart City people need to be provided with the basic facilities. After august 5, 2019 J&K

He said that Shiv Sena is launching an e-campaign to seek their support for free electricity and water. “The claims about all villages getting electricity are a hoax. Poles and wires have reached but electricity hasn’t reached the villages.”
He said that he recently attended a party programme at Kralpora in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. “From morning to evening there was no electricity. Forget far-flung areas, even towns don’t power for hours together,” he added.
Sawhney said that Shiv Sena has decided to launch a comprehensive programme across J&K to seek free power and water. “J&K people are unaware about their area supplying electricity to the entire country. We will make them aware about their potential and rights,” he added.
