Ch. Mohammed Yasin, however, got selected based on the exceptional work in J&K-NHM, done during the last few years. The patrons of this programme, The Bernard van Leer Foundation (BvLF) hosted the fifth and last year of this executive program on Scaling Early Childhood Initiatives, at the Jhon F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (HKS) and has worked in more than 50 countries and invested over half a billion dollars toward their mission to improve opportunities for young children growing up with social and economic disadvantage.
The programme is not about early childhood itself, but also about the leadership, strategic thinking and other skills needed to bring initiatives focused on early childhood to scale. And, based on successes in Brazil earlier, the programme follows the success of a similar initiative run by the Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal Foundation and the Harvard Center on the Developing Child for which the Bernard van Leer Foundation has provided the funding. Attendees at early iterations of the course included members of the Federal House and Senate from multiple political parties, who together drafted a new law – the Marco Legal da Primeira Infância – on promoting early childhood development and started implementing to benefit young children.
The key focuses of this training-exercise nevertheless were on leadership, strategic thinking and skills that are a core part of bringing initiatives focused on early childhood to scale.
This programme took place from Sunday 13 to Friday 18 March 2022 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and this’s the last year of the course where representatives from Asia; and the delegations from Liberia, Israel, Turkey, USA, The Netherlands, Peru, India and Asia were also among others.
On successful completion of the program, Ch. Mohd. Yasin also received a ‘Harvard Executive Education Certificate’.
