Now Raj Bhawan silent on Pandit temple ‘land grab’ in Gulmarg!
3/25/2022 12:13:04 AM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 24: In a shocking incident, the previous government had given away over one kanal of temple land to the Gulmarg Development Authority and that the Raj Bhawan is silent on the issue.
Sources said the issue of the alleged “land grab done by the dynasts in favor” of the GDA for development of public facility had been “lying buried in official files.”
It was reliably learnt that after the recent release of the movie The Kashmir Files the matter came to public light as some officials are understood to have brought the matter to the notice of the Raj Bhawan. Sources said the Raj Bhawan was briefed about the matter that it was no less than the “land grab of Pandit property by government.” Sources said The Kashmir Files movie left some of the officials so emotional that they decided to bring the matter in the know of the Raj Bhawan. A senior official told the Early Times on the condition of anonymity that the temple at Gulmarg was owning over four kanals of land and that around half of it was given away to the GDA. “One fails to understand that why amid open meadows only the temple land was to be grabbed for construction of public facility and that why the Raj Bhawan should remain silent on the issue,” said a senior official.
He said the Raj Bhawan was expected to revoke the orders of the handover of the temple land to the GDA. “Mere one order from the Raj Bhawan can give that land back to the temple but one fails to understand the reasons behind the silence of the government. May be they are busy hosting delegates from abroad,” the official said.
It’s pertinent to mention that the tragedy of the Pandit community that was forced to migration at the onset of militancy has been brought to the limelight by the widely acclaimed movie, the Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri.
When contacted a senior official said the matter of Pandit land was being looked into.
