Former BJP minister criticizes ‘Babu Raaj’
Accuses J&K Admin of failing to do its job
3/26/2022 11:33:41 PM
Early times Report

Jammu, Mar 26: In yet another instance of local BJP leaders not being heard by the present dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir, senior BJP leader and former minister Sukhnandan Kumar on Friday addressed a news conference here to express dismay over the delay in desilting and clearing of irrigation canals across Jammu division.
He alleged that inordinate delay in the annual desilting and repairs of canals will affect the paddy sowing activity across the Jammu division. He said that the divisional administration has failed to streamline its duties. Delay in desilting of irrigation canals would give a blow to the agriculture sector in this region.
An observer while talking to Early Times said, “Sukhnandan is not the first BJP leader who has publicly castigated the administration for its failure to do its job. In the past many local BJP leaders have come out in open and revealed that the bureaucrats don’t listen to them and are not accessible to people.”
Sukhnandan also stated that repair and renovation works of canals in Bishnah village Domala Siphon in Chhiniya Panchayat are still incomplete and if its delayed further the farmers could face lot of problems.
He said that in Tawi Island Sub Division of Irrigation Department & Kandi-1, PHE Sub-Division Marh is without AEE since one &half year. “If this will be the attitude of the administration how the Centrally sponsored schemes such as Har Ghar Jal etc. under Jal Jeevan Mission can be provided,” he asked.
An analyst said, “Bureaucrats acting like monarchs is making even the local BJP leaders feel helpless. They are being treated as non-entities. A former minister, whose own party is managing J&K affairs, going public about the shortcomings in the system reveals how powerful the bureaucrats have become.”
