Rajouri, Apr 2: It might sound bizarre but it is true that education system in Rajouri district has totally collapsed with inadequate infrastructure at Government High School lower Bhangai of zone Thannamandi, which has been running in three rooms whereas it has 166 students.
Shockingly, out of three rooms, one has been kept for staff while two rooms are used for 166 students which exposes the tall claims of education department.
When some media persons visited the school premises, exams were taking place, and students were sitting on floor in a very congested manner.
Incharge of the school, when contacted, he informed that they had to face huge difficulties in conducting and managing classes as they have 166 students of different classes and only two rooms.
“Due to shortage of space, we have to conduct some classes in one room and some have to sit in open. The studies get enormously affected but we are helpless” he said further adding that things get more tough during rains and winter.
Two or three teachers cannot take class in one room, he added.
Not only this even the existing building is in bad condition as the plaster is breaking roof is crumbling which is creating danger and risk for the students.
The headmaster of the school further said that there is a dare need of more rooms at least 12 rooms are required for conducting smooth classes.
He further said that he had approached the concerned Panchayat representatives to provide the land for construction of more rooms but it could not be made available.
Even the locals and panches of the area also raised this issue with the concerned authority demanding construction of more classrooms but nothing has been done till date which clearly shows that the education department is least bothered about major grievances of this area.
It has also been observed that when such issues of schools which grappling with lack of infrastructures and facilities in other areas are reported by the media, they are targeted by some of the teachers who don’t want the issues to be highlighted.
