Power shutdown in Jammu becomes a norm

Jammu, Apr 23: Power shutdowns in Jammu region have become a norm as not a single day passes without the Power Department announcing curtailment in one or other area.
According to the sources, Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) is facing a shortage of 600 Megawatts and is grappling to fill in the gap between demand and supply. The pesky power cuts have triggered outrage among the people and they are questioning the moves of the Power Department to install smart meters and making the consumers pay hefty bills through their nose. There are reports that the JPDCL is in no mood to buy additional electricity from the Northern Grid and if the same situation continues Jammu region can witness 5 to7 hour power cuts daily.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, Jammu has informed that the power supply to Patoli Brahmana, Domana, Barnai, Purkhoo, Mishriwala, Baba Talab, Shamachak, GurhaSinghu, Batera, Dabbin, Chorpur, Manyal, Dhramkhu, Tirth Talab, GREF, Gumpul, Sua No.1, Garkhal and adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 25 from 8 am to 12 noon.
Similarly, the power supply to Khour, Pahariwala, Jogwan, PHE Station shall remain affected on April 25 from 8 am to 2 pm.
Likewise, the power supply to Tanda, Dori Dager, BasavaGagel, Maira Mandrian and adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 25 from 7 am to 11 am.
Similarly, the power supply to Suhagpur, Nandpur, KotliJabowal, Part of Arnia, Allah, BSF, Nandpur, Gadigarh, Dhrap, Indra Nagar and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 25 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Likewise, the power supply to Pargwal, Channi Tanna, Rajpura, Bhalwal Bharat, DhalwalMiuluHamipurkona, BSF, Batera, Dabbin, Chorpur, Manyal, Dharmkhu, TirthTalab, GREF, Gumpul, Sua No. 1, Garkhal, Dumi, Sobka, Sua No. 1 and adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 25 from 10 am to 3 pm.
Meanwhile, Superintending Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, O&M Circle, Kathua has informed that the power supply to Excise Office and Toll Plaza shall remain affected on April 24 from 6 am to 10 am.
