Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 27: Residents in many areas across Jammu city staged massive protests on Wednesday against the failure of the Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) to provide electricity. Protesters, including men and women, took to the streets. They threatened to intensify the protests across the Union Territory. Panchs and Sarpanchs in the Samba area said that if the power situation doesn’t improve, they will block the National Highway. “If electricity isn’t restored it will lead to a water crisis as the water motors and pumps are not working. We are facing a 20-hour power cut.”
Women in the Karan Bagh area in Jammu city staged a sit-in on Wednesday and were seen arguing with the employees of the Power Department for their failure to address the power crisis. “Our lives have become miserable in the scorching heat and the government seems least bothered. We have no electricity, no water in our homes,” they added.
