| Govt GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organises 'MANTHAN' | | |  Early Times Report
HIRANAGAR, June 14: Department of Music Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised Manthan which is an online lecture series from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The chief guest on the occasion was Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna,Principal, Govt. GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar. Prof. Pragya Khanna in her address elaborated the importance of music in the lives of humans. She highly appreciated this idea of the series of online lectures wherein the experts in music from the entire country are going to participate in coming days.The resource person of the webinar was Vijay Kumar Sambyal, Former Station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu. He spoke on the topic "Jammu aur Kashmir Mein Shastriya Sangeet : Prachar Evam Prayas". He expressed that the place and position of classical music in Jammu and Kashmir has fallen from what it was earlier. He however also expressed the hope that classical music will rise again by the efforts of different people in music and especially by programmes like this. He also said that he has observed an increased interest of the new generation in classical music these days.
The lecture was followed by a Question and Answer session in which a number of participants discussed and shared their views. Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Head Department of music who handled the proceedings expressed that the policy framework for the rejuvenation of classical music for the new generation in Jammu and Kashmir has to be taken up with a new approach and a new perspective.
