Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 14: Provincial President National Conference Jammu region, Rattan Lal Gupta today strongly condemned the brutal Lathi charge of J&K Police over the peacefully protesting NHM workers outside the BJP headquarters in Jammu.
Speaking at the joining programme held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here today, the senior NC leader condemned the J&K Government for crushing the voice of protesting NHM workers by resorting to lathi-charge. He said that it is quite unfortunate that NHM workers protesting in front of BJP Head Office in Trikuta Nagar Jammu were beaten mercilessly by the police force.
Rattan Lal Gupta said that it is quite ironic that the services of 1600 NHM workers have been terminated and they have been left to the mercy of God by the J&K administration despite the fact that they performed their duties splendidly during Corona crisis. It is known to one and all that these workers played a crucial role as frontline workers in overcoming the challenges posed by the deadly virus and said to be the corona warriors, he added.
The Provincial President accused the government of using these NHM workers like tissue papers by terminating their services after passing of the pandemic. “Government cannot marginalize these workers who toiled much harder than the permanent employees in the fight against Covid pandemic to save precious human lives,” he stated.
Rattan Lal Gupta also slammed the J&K BJP leadership for shamelessly watching the whole incident of beating these protesting NHM workers by police personnel from the windows of BJP Headquarters in Trikuta Nagar. Instead of stopping the brutal lathicharge on NHM workers outside the party office, the BJP workers preferred to maintain silence and watched the whole incident shamelessly, he added. He asserted that by doing so BJP has hurt the sentiments of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The senior NC leader said that on one hand BJP is talking about empowering women and on the other hand the same women have been forced to come on roads to get their demands fulfilled. What type of empowerment BJP is giving to the women of Jammu and Kashmir? Questioned Gupta.
Rattan Lal Gupta demanded that the use and through policy of LG led Administration should be stopped immediately and the agitating NHM workers should be reinstated without any further delay. Earlier, dozens of women under the leadership of Bimla Luthra, State Vice President Women Wing NC, J&K have joined the party fold in presence of Rattan Lal Gupta.
Rattan Lal Gupta welcomed the newly joined members into the party fold and hoped that their joining will strengthen the party at grass roots level.
Bimla Luthra, in her address, lashed out at the BJP for the betrayal with NHM workers as well as daily wagers who were on roads, seeking justice. She asserted that the entire BJP leadership has promised to regularise these daily wagers but after coming to power they failed to pay them regular wages. She strongly condemned the lathi-charge on peaceful protest of NHM workers who are seeking their rightful demands and justice. She demanded that Govt should immediately reinstate the NHM workers, besides a regularization policy should also be framed for all categories of daily wagers, casual, need based workers and temporary, contractual employees at the earliest.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary asked newly joined members to work hard in highlighting the policies and progammes of the Party in their respective areas with an aim to end the exploitation of present regime.
Among those who were present during the joining programme include: Vijay Lochan P.P SC Cell, Abdul Gani Teli P.P OBC cell, Dilshad Malik, Pinky Khalsa, Som Raj Taroch, Nitish Gowsami, Jatin Bhat , Jyoti, Tilki.
