6/7/2023 10:20:39 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 7: Raman Suri, an Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir, extended his congratulations to Col Priyanka Singh, the first Women Commanding Officer of the Army Service Corps (ASC) Battalion in the Northern Command. Suri commended the Indian Army for exemplifying Nari Shakti (women power) through Col Priyanka's appointment to such a significant position.
Suri highlighted that appointing a woman officer to a frontline Divisional ASC Battalion, where she will oversee the provision of essential supplies and transport cover to soldiers on the borders, demonstrates equality, women's empowerment, and strength. It also acknowledges the capabilities of women and their invaluable contribution to the defense and security of the nation.
He drew inspiration from legendary women warriors of India such as Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi, Rani Durgavati, Mata Bhag Kaur, Kittur Chennamma, and Maharani Tarabai Bhosale. Suri emphasized that Col Priyanka's appointment will inspire more daughters of the nation to serve on the front lines, showcasing their capabilities.
Suri commended the Northern Command for its pride in having such a brilliant and fearless officer like Col Priyanka Singh. He stated that her passion and courage serve as great motivation for other women in the country, and India takes immense pride in its daughters' achievements.
He further lauded the appointment of the first woman as a Commanding Officer in ASC, celebrating the spirit of women achievers like Col Singh. The Northern Command, known for its commitment to inclusivity and diversity in the armed forces, deserves accolades for unlocking the full potential of all personnel, regardless of gender. This marks a golden era where women officers will demonstrate their competence as capable soldiers on the front line.
Suri also highlighted the Union Government's directive to the Defence Ministry to organize an All-Women Republic Day Parade in 2024. This decision showcases the government's belief in Nari Shakti. The parade will exclusively feature women participating in all activities along the Kartavya Path. This historic decision, taken for the first time in the country, is highly commendable.
