Early Times Report

Chowki Choura (Jammu), Jan 17: The Government Accidental Hospital Chowki Choura is in a dilapidated and unhygienic condition.
Residents while talking to Early Times alleged that there are “no proper facilities” available for the patients and the hospital remaining dirty adds to the woes of the patients.
Rohit Sharma, a local resident, while sharing his distress told this newspaper that he took his aunt's body to the hospital for post-mortem. “I was shocked to find the hospital in a deplorable state, with rooms being dirty and unhygienic.” “The state of cleanliness in the hospital was highly unacceptable,” he added.
Pictures of the hospital mock at the at the ongoing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a national cleanliness drive aimed at promoting hygiene and sanitation across the country.
Residents urged the local authorities and Health Department to take immediate action to address the cleanliness and maintenance issues at the hospital.
When contacted, Block Medical Officer Dr Sumit Khajuria told Early Times that a woman was brought to the hospital for postmortem in the morning. “But we don’t have any designated space for the postmortem. We get all the post mortems done in Jammu.”
On being informed that the hospital is in a dilapidated and unhygienic state, Dr Khajuria said, “It’s an old building and will be demolished soon.”
