Jammu, Apr 29: The Central Government of India has notified the appointment of Senior Most Judicial Officers J&K District Judiciary Sanjay Parihar presently posted as Judicial Member J&K Special Tribunal Jammu and Shahzad Azeem presently Registrar General of J&K and Ladakh High Court as Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their elevation on April 16.
Sanjay Parihar has born on December 19, 1968, obtain his early schooling from Horna Palmar Tehsil Kishtwar, HSS from Kishtwar and did college from Poonch and did Law from Jammu University. He enrolled as Advocate in the year 1993 and joined the Chamber of Advocate Ashok Parihar.
He appointed as Munsiff in the year 1997 and his first appointment as Mobile Magistrate Doda and promoted as Sub-Judge in the year 2000 and remained posted in various Court and appointed as District Judge in the year 2008. He also appointed Registrar Supreme Court for more than 18 months.
During his tenure as Sessions Judge, he remained posted as Addl. District Judge, Rajouri, PO, MACT, Jammu, 3rd Additional District Judge, TADA, Jammu, Member, J&K Sales Tax Tribunal, Princpal Sessions Judge, Leh, Additional Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu, Member, J&K Special Tribunal, Jammu, Registrar Judicial, Jammu, 2nd Additional District &Sessions Judge, Jammu, Registrar, Supreme Court of India, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur, Additional sessions Judge, Srinagar, Principal Sessions Judge, Baramulla, Director, J&K Judicial, Academy, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu and Member J&K Special Tribunal, Jammu wherefrom he has been elevated as Permanent Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, vide notification no. K.13021/05/2024-US.I dated 29.04.2025 issued by the Government of India Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division).
Shahzad Azeem obtained his early schooling from Mendhar (District Poonch) and did graduation and LL.B. from Jammu University. He was enrolled as an Advocate with J&K Bar Council in the year 2001 and started practicing at High Court of J&K and Ladakh and District Courts at Jammu. He was appointed as direct District Judge in the year 2011 and joined the services as Pr. District & Sessions Judge Kupwara. Thereafter, prominently he remained posted as Pr. District and Sessions Judge, Budgam, Pulwama, and Rajouri. He also served as President Divisional Consumer Forum, Jammu. Also Discharged the duties as first Registrar IT and Registrar Inspection, High Court of J&K and Ladakh and thereafter had the privilege to serve as Registrar Vigilance, High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Director, J&K Judicial Academy and lastly remained posted as Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, wherefrom he has been elevated as Permanent Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, vide notification no. K.13021/05/2024-US.I dated 29.04.2025 issued by the Government of India Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division).
With the appointment of these two District & Sessions Judges as Judge of High Court, the total sitting judges of High Court goes to 15 and still three are 10 posts are vacant in which one may be come from District & Sessions Judges and 9 maybe come from Bar. (JNF)
