Early Times Report JAMMU, June 20: 40 J&K Police officers/officials successfully underwent the first stage of an intensive 12-week course on "Proficiency in Fingerprint Science". This course, a joint effort between the Central Fingerprint Bureau (CFPB) and National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), commenced on April 15th, 2025 at DPL Jammu and was primarily focussed on making the trainees well versed in the Fingerprint science and ultimately aid in solving the crimes. These selected officers-including Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables-dove deep into the world of fingerprint science. They were briefed regarding the various aspects of Fingerprint science, viz. identification of fingerprints, lifting of these prints, analysing/ comparing them and processing the same for uploading on to the NAFIS platform. It was a hands-on exposure at every step of the training programme, with the goal to sharpen the skill sets, crucial for the cracking of criminal cases. Today, on culmination of the 10th week of the Phase-I of the said course, Sh. Mohd. Yousif, SSP, Fingerprint Bureau, J&K, praised their commitment and motivation exhibited during the course. He briefed the trainees about the next phase of the training which will start with the Delhi Police, at New Delhi wherein they'll get exposed to the practical implications of this training at the various Police Stations of Delhi Police for One week. Subsequently, the 2nd week will be at the Central Fingerprint Bureau at New Delhi, wherein they will be subjected to final assessment.
