Jammu, June 20: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that Operation Sindoor stands as a strong testament to the emergence of a new, assertive India—one that will no longer be a passive victim of terrorism but will respond with strength and strategy. Addressing soldiers at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir, the Raksha Mantri praised the precision, coordination, and courage displayed by the Armed Forces and intelligence agencies in the successful targeting of terrorist infrastructure across the border in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoK). “Operation Sindoor sent a powerful message to terrorists and their patrons that New India is resolute and will not tolerate acts of terror. Our response will be firm and strategic,” he said, adding, “India’s change in counter-terrorism policy is a result of the unmatched valour and dedication of our soldiers.” Calling the operation more than just a military strike, Singh described it as a clear warning to those across the border who support terrorism. “Operation Sindoor is not over yet. This is just a pause. I want to tell this to my neighbouring country,” he said firmly. The Defence Minister paid glowing tribute to the Armed Forces, describing the life of a soldier as one defined by courage and sacrifice. “The nation will forever remain indebted to the brave hearts who protect the sovereignty and integrity of our motherland,” he added. Later, while attending a Barakhana organised on the eve of International Day of Yoga 2025, the Minister encouraged troops to continue focusing on physical and mental well-being, stating, “If you are strong, our borders are strong. And when the borders are strong, India is strong.” The event featured a vibrant cultural programme, showcasing performances such as Khukri Dance, Bhangra, Kalari Pattu, and Jhanz Patak. Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and other senior Army officials were also present. |
