Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 7: In a significant development ahead of the Nagrota Assembly byelection, sitting Lok Sabha member from Jammu–Reasi constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign to bolster support for party candidate Divyani Rana.
Jugal Kishore Sharma was deputed in the Bihar Assembly elections by the party high command.
Party insiders said the decision to deploy Sharma in the campaign follows reports of a close contest in several pockets of the constituency, particularly in the Dansal block, where the National Conference (NC) candidate Shamim Begum and
Panthers Party nominee Harsh Dev Singh are reportedly giving a tough fight to the BJP.
Being a native of Dansal, Jugal Kishore Sharma enjoys strong personal relations with voters across the block. His active participation in the campaign, party sources said, is expected to give a much-needed push to the BJP’s outreach efforts and consolidate the support base in the area.
“Jugal Kishore Sharma has deep-rooted connections in the Dansal region. His presence will not only help in mobilizing traditional BJP voters but also strengthen coordination among the local cadre,” a senior BJP functionary said.
Observers believe Sharma’s involvement carries additional political significance as his younger brother, Nand Kishore Sharma, was also a key contender for the BJP ticket following the demise of Devender Singh Rana. The Lok Sabha MP’s decision to join the campaign is being viewed as a reconciliatory gesture aimed at uniting the party rank and file and motivating those workers who were reportedly disheartened after the ticket went to another candidate.
Party leaders expressed confidence that Sharma’s entry into the campaign would inject fresh momentum into the BJP’s efforts in Nagrota and help bridge internal gaps within the organization.
With polling day approaching, Sharma is expected to intensify his public outreach through rallies and door-to-door interactions in Dansal and adjoining areas, focusing on highlighting the development initiatives of the Modi government and the BJP’s commitment to grassroots empowerment.
Political analysts see his active role as a strategic move by the BJP to reclaim its traditional strongholds and blunt the opposition’s growing influence in the region.
