Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Dec 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a detailed charge-sheet against Tanveer Ahmad Dar, the then Assistant Engineer posted in the BDO office Suresyar Chadoora, in connection with a trap case registered last year.
An ACB official said the charge-sheet, filed before the Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar, pertains to FIR No. 25/2023 under Section 7 of the Prevention of
Corruption Act, 1988.
He said the case began with a written complaint received on December 21, 2023, in which the complainant alleged that Dar had demanded Rs 2,000 as a bribe for clearing NREGA bills.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, he said, a trap was laid, during which the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the money.
The bribe amount was immediately recovered from his possession, and subsequent chemical tests confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein powder on his hands, reinforcing the evidence collected at the spot, he said.
According to the ACB, the investigation brought forward clear and cogent evidence establishing that the accused public servant had committed the offence under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
After completing all legal formalities, including obtaining mandatory prosecution sanction from the Government, the Bureau moved ahead with presenting the charge-sheet in the court today.
The case has now been admitted by the court for judicial proceedings, and the next hearing has been scheduled for February 17, 202
