BIJBEHARA, Feb 14: The Tehsil Social Welfare Office Bijbehara today organised an awareness programme under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, with participation from a large number of elderly residents. The programme aimed to educate people about the importance of caring for parents and senior citizens and to inform them about various government schemes available for their welfare. Officials briefed participants on the support mechanisms provided by the government and explained how senior citizens can access benefits offered by the Social Welfare Department. Speaking to the media, several participants appreciated the initiatives taken by the Tehsil office, stating that visible positive changes have been introduced.
