Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 14: Five months after presenting an encouraging employment picture in the Union Territory of J&K, the Mumbai-based Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) now revealed an alarming situation in the UT where the unemployment rate has reached 21.6 percent which is an all-time high. In April this year, the CMIE had presented an encouraging picture about the declining unemployment rate in the Union Territory. The authorities had claimed that it was the result of the job-oriented initiatives taken by the government that more and more youth are getting employment. In April the CMIE had indicated that the unemployment rate in J&K was 9 percent which has gone below that of other northern states like Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. Haryana's unemployment rate for the period stood at 28.1%, 22.1%, Rajasthan's at 19.7%, and Delhi's at 9.4%. The same CMIE in its recent report revealed that the unemployment rate in Jammu & Kashmir has the highest 21.6 percent in the country. Early Times Report Poonch, Oct 14: A JCO was among two army men martyred in a gunfight with the militants in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, taking the number of soldiers martyred this week in the border district to seven, officials said. An official said that two soldiers, including a Junior Commissioner Officer (JCO) were martyred in the gunfight that broke out today evening in Bhimber Gali area of the border district. Petrol, Diesel prices hiked again, reach highest ever levels across India

Agencies New Delhi, Oct 14: After a two-day pause, petrol and diesel price today was again hiked by 35 paise per litre, sending retail pump prices to their highest ever level across the country. The price of petrol in Delhi rose to its highest-ever level of Rs 104.79 a litre and Rs 110.75 per litre in Mumbai, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers. In Mumbai, diesel now comes for Rs 101.40 a litre; while in Delhi, it costs Rs 93.52. This is the 13th time that petrol price has been hiked in two weeks while diesel rates have gone up on 16 times in three weeks. There was no change in rates on October 12 and 13. Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 14: The Daily Bulletin on COVID today informs that 93 fresh positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 21 from Jammu division and 72 from Kashmir division, have been reported, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 330834. Moreover, 104 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 28 from Jammu Division and 76 from Kashmir Division.
