Dengue outbreak in Jammu: Central team unhappy with cosmetic steps taken by J&K administration

Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 14: Notwithstanding tall claims repeatedly made by the J&K government in media, a team of experts deputed by the Union Government was unhappy with steps taken by the local authorities in tackling dengue in the Union Territory in general and Jammu province in particular. Highly placed sources said that during its to visit the worst affected areas of Jammu province, the team observed that except for the publicity nothing concrete was done on the grounds. After conducting a visit to different areas of Jammu province, the team would submit its report to the Union Health Ministry. The first time after 2014 Jammu district has crossed all records to dengue cases thanks to the casual approach of the authorities. Sources further said that the J&K administration has taken dengue very casually and except giving advertisements in the selective media no serious step was taken during monsoon to tackle the situation. Early Times Report Banihal/Jammu, Nov 14: A man and his three-year-old daughter died on Sunday and his wife was critically injured when a truck rammed several vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, police said. The Kashmir-bound truck hit four cars coming from the opposite side near Magerkote in Ramban district, they said. The deceased were identified as Jatinder Singh (33) of Tral and his minor daughter Navdeep Kaur, a police official said. Singh's wife Rimple Kaur (30) was hospitalised with critical injuries, he said. Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 14: The Government today informed that 174 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 24 from Jammu division and 150 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 334180.Also, 02 COVID deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 14: The Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh reported two deaths and 13 fresh positive cases of Covid-19 pandemic, while 15 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals during the past 24 hours, a medical bulletin released by the Directorate of Health Service, Leh said here. Meanwhile, the authorities in Leh township of Ladakh Union Territory closed all educational institutions after 25 students were found positive with the Novel Coronavirus infection. Policeman injured in Sgr militant attack

Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 14: A policeman was injured in a brief exchange of fire with militants at Jamalat area of Nawakadal in down Srinagar Sunday evening. Police said, on a tip off a police party raided a suspected hideout in Jamalata area of old Srinagar. Soon the police party was about to storm the hideout, militants hiding there opened fire and in the exchange of fire one police cop was injured’ The injured cop as identified as SgCt Mohammad Maqbool Personnel Security Guard (PSO) of Superintendent of Police North who had received injured in his neck.
