TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Ram Madhav likely to be stripped of J&K charge
11/22/2018 11:39:38 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: Failure of BJP to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir following dissolution of assembly is likely to cost the party national general secretary Ram Madhav of the state's charge. Reliable sources in the BJP circles say the party high command has already made up its mind to remove Madhav as incharge J&K in view of his blunders committed in the last three years. However, the sources added, the latest development in which arch rival PDP and National Conference came closer for forming a government and failure of Madhav to get a prior information about such attempts have forced the party high command to seriously mull removal of its pointman on J&K. While elaborating, sources said that the BJP high command was already mulling removal of Madhav as incharge J&K for the last several months following some complaints against his style of working and more particularly pick and choose attitude. Party's annoyance was evident in the last reshuffle affected in the government when the high command, in consultation with RSS, removed some BJP ministers, who we...

Despite having 25 MLAs it couldn't muster courage to stake claim for govt formation
BJP went out of way to appease Sajad Lone
11/22/2018 11:39:21 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: Bharatiya Janata Party by extending support to Peoples Conference to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir proved it beyond doubt that the party had once again surrendered before the Kashmir centric parties and had in principle agreed to become a second fiddle once again. An analyst while talking to Early Times said that BJP had 25 seats in the recently dissolved Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir and if it enjoyed the support of 20 more MLAs it should have staked the claim to form the government rather than asking Sajad Lone, who had got just two MLAs, to send a letter to the Governor to stake the claim for the government formation. "Had the Governor Mali...

PDP on same page with NC over 35A, mum on State Subject issue
Height of Mehbooba's hypocritical politics
11/22/2018 11:39:06 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has justified her party's aborted attempt to ally with its arch rival National Conference, saying the threat to Article 35A made her to think of the unthinkable. "This alliance is born out of necessity to safeguard the interests of the state, particularly in reference to Article 35A of the Constitution that confers special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of the state," a national daily quoted Mehbooba as saying. "Nobody was taking the issue seriously. The date of the hearing (January next year) is drawing closer and the Governor's administration was doing nothing to defend it. In our...

Mehbooba left alone!
11/22/2018 11:38:42 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: As Imran Ansari has finally decided to bid adieu to PDP and join Peoples Conference (PC) led by Sajad Lone, there are high chances that the PDP may get another shock with its veteran Muzaffar Hussain Beigh joining the PC too. Beigh "will join PC and announce his departure from PDP" in which he spent around 19 years since it was founded by him along with late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed 1999, said sources. A PDP leader said the party is more concerned over Beigh's parting ways from the party than Ansari's joining the PC. "Ansari was already out of the party and he had announced it much earlier along with his uncle Abid Ansari. What turned out as a shock for t...

11/22/2018 11:38:28 PM

A police officer wishing not to be named told early times that the woman recruits of militants have thrown a big challenge for the security forces in Kashmir. "This is not new but yes, a fresh concern for us and we have to face it now," he said.
