TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Have Kashmir centric groups finally fallen in line?
Parties need to apologize for asking people to boycott ULB, Panchyat polls
11/8/2020 11:54:51 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 8: As the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PADG) has announced participation in the District Development Council polls, questions are being raised over the decisions of NC and PDP about boycotting the ULB and Panchayat polls held in 2018. In a surprising move, merely a week after the government announced the DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the conglomerate of various political groups including NC and PDP decided to jump into the fray. This is interestingly the first ever election after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 last year. The regional parties who have come together under the banner of PAGD to fight for the restoration of JK’s special status have decided to contest the polls unanimously. What is raising the eyebrows is that in the year 2018 when the Article 370 was very much intact and alive, these same parties asked people to stay away from the polls and even boycotted the elections. It was even at that time that the parties were castigated by their own men for boycotting the polls and taking issues of people for grante...

While making the announcement for conduct of elections, the Jammu and Kashmir poll panel on November 4 had announced an eight phase election to 20 DDCs, beginning November 28.
