TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Mehbooba's PDP is over?
Many leaders, former MLAs could join Lone's camp
12/16/2018 11:17:25 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 16: Former CM Mehbooba Mufti's PDP is in complete disarray. Five MLAs have already jumped out of the sinking ship and many more are likely to follow, as they have come to believe that the "PDP has lost its appeal and sheen across the militant-infested Kashmir Valley" and that "they have no future in the PDP". Prominent among those who quit the PDP and severed ties with Mehbooba Mufti included former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu. Speculations are rife that all these five former MLAs and many others in the party could shake hands with People's Conference chief Sajad Lone, who has good relations with the BJP and the RSS. Of course, no formal announcement has been made so far but these leaders are, according to reports, "learnt to have discussed broader contours of the future engagement and are expected to join hands only after the formal announcement of assembly elections in the state is made". The crisis in the PDP started soon after Mehbooba Mufti found herself stranded midway after the BJP pull the plug and walked out of the "unholy" allia...

Contrarily, she has commended Dogra rule and tore into the British Government. Dismissing the charge that the Dogra rule was cruel and autocratic, Radha Kumar has said that "the discourse due to which Muslims in Kashmir consider Dogras cruel and autocratic is only partially true because the founder of Dogra rule in Kashmir, Maharaja Gulab Singh, reorganized tax structure, controlled rice process and established an effective administr...
