After mass transfer, 'suspension scam' in Kishtwar police surfaces

Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 11: After the mass scale transfers issued by the outgoing Superintendent Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary, another scandal of mass scale suspension of police personnel in Kishtwar has surfaced during the short tenure of Chowdhary. Sources told Early Times that Chowdhary, in a well coordinated manner, suspended around 100 cops and later entrusted the enquiries to few designated officials who later reinstated them following alleged deals. The matter was also reported by various intelligence agencies working in Kishtwar to the government, but due to political patronage from a former minister in the then PDP-BJP government, the accused officer and his close confidants managed to continue in the district. However, after the imposition of the Governor's Rule, action was initiated against the erring officer following reports from various quarters.
