Early Times REPORT JAMMU, Sept 11: Senior leadership of National Conference including the party veterans are maintaining a stoic silence over the recent controversial remarks of NC vice president Omar Abdullah which have become an embalmment of the party’s tectonic shift in its traditional stand. Omar Abdullah in his September 2, 2020 statement hinted that it was impossible to even think that the special status of Jammu and Kashmir can be restored by the present Modi led government and that he wouldn’t believe in holding demonstrations against the central government’s August 5, 2019 decision. Meanwhile, none of the senior NC leadership has seconded Omar Abdullah on his statement, hinting at a possible wedge between him and the veteran party leadership. There are even speculations gaining ground that Omar and his party men- the majority of them- aren’t on the same page with him and have cautioned his father who is also, NC patriarch that party’s political future will be in the dock if Omar doesn’t mend his ways. Among the senior party leaders Ali Mohd Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather,...
