Defiance of PCC leadership

Early Times Report
Jammu, May 14: In the backdrop of some Jammu based senior leaders encouraging factionalism and showing disregard to J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president GA Mir, at least three leaders are going to face action from party high command. While unpleasant reports have gone about GS Charak and Prem Sagar Aziz, it is Abdul Ghani Vakil , a senior leader from Kashmir who is not in good books of high command for making unsavoury comments and indulging in anti leadership activities.
Sources while Congress high command has already taken strong cognizance of defiance of some Jammu based leaders against the PCC leadership in terms of organizing meetings and taking decisions on their own, the utterances of these three leaders have been pointed out as against the party interests. Their activities are also being seen as encouraging the factionalism and dividing the party on regional lines , sources said. Their activities and utterances to media in recent past have also been reported to central leadership and all the three leaders, notwithstanding the fact having served party in senior ranks and posts are now being monitored, sources added.
Sources further said since most of the leaders showing defiance to PCC leadership have allegiance towards party stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad, high command has asked the latter to rein in them and convey in in firm terms that such activities would not be tolerated anymore at a time when party is in opposition role and needs leaders and cadres on a united mode rather than disintegrated in self engineered camps and factions.
"These leaders are indulging in undesired activities and making uncalled for statements merely out of conviction that Azad Sahab is on their back and probably he would be pleased by such actions…..", said a senior leader of Congress . But those days have gone by when the party was in power ……moreover Ghulam Nabi Azad himself is not in position to sustain that state of the party now…. Nor would he be able to save anyone if party means to take disciplinary action", he said adding that if Azad means to tighten his grip over them, none of them would have ever dare to indulge in such activities. Sources further said that their utterances are also being assessed as to what prompted them to say anything that goes blatantly against the present leadership. Sometimes it is mere slip of tongue by any leader which is generally ignored or overlooked as unintentional. But the statements of these leaders have been seen more in light of planned, organised and intentional , sources said , which is why the matter has gone to high command.
