Early Times Report
Jammu, May 14: Gone are the days when the so-called patriotic BJP used to hold strong protests against Pakistan and demand action against the rogue nation. Today's BJP, which is under the complete control of PM Modi and BJP national president Amit shah, both from Gujarat, is an altogether a different party. It is more friendly towards Pakistan than the "secular" Congress party used to be. It no longer considers Pakistan a hostile state. It wants to be friend Islamabad even at the cost of the nation and the country's self-respect. It doesn't pay heed to the former Army chiefs, former diplomats, strategic affairs experts and defence experts who have been repeatedly questioning the PM Modi's Pakistan policy, as also his policy towards J&K and warning him that his policy would further damage the interests of the country in J&K and elsewhere in the country and dented his own image and the image of the party. They have been asking the PM to snap all kinds of ties with Pakistan, reminding him that he himself had umpteen times said that talks and terror could not go hand-in-hand, but PM Modi has been disregarding their concerns. They have been saying that India must not talk to Pakistan which has been bombing the Line of Control and international border, but he has been saying that he would cultivate friendship with Islamabad at any cost. Nothing is moving PM Modi and those surrounding him.
It has been happening particularly since October 2014, when the schedule of J&K Assembly elections was announced by the Election Commission. Ever since then, the BJP as a party and the Modi government have been repeatedly yielding and injuring the sentiments of the nation. So much so, it has abdicated everything in favour of Kashmir willfully ignoring the nature of Jammu mandate. During this period, Pakistan and its Army and ISI and its terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba/Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Hizbul Mujahideen and similar other terror organizations violated and breached the Line of Control and international border almost daily, attacked police stations and army camps a number of times, brutally murdered several of our soldiers and jawans, liquidated many civilians and targeted many soft targets. During this period, Pakistan also tried its best to foment anti-India troubles in Kashmir using its conduits like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and dreaded Masrat Alam, who successfully instigated their followers to raise pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans and wave Pakistani flags in the heart of Srinagar city and Tral in Kashmir. These events naturally alarmed the nation with many predicting the rise of pre-1990-like situation in the Valley and with the responsible Indian media tearing into the PM Modi's foreign and military policy.
Even two days ago, Pakistani butchers murdered two CRPF jawans in Anantnag district. The need of the time was a full-scale retaliation against the Pakistan-sponsored terrorists and murderers. This was what the concerned nation wanted the PM Modi to do, but, ironically, his government rubbed salt on the wounded nation by adopting a positive attitude towards the Pakistani proposal to hold cricket matches with India at Dubai or any other place. The president of Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesdayexpressed confidence that there would be matches between India and Pakistan and he expressed confidence after his meetings with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Anurag Thakur in Delhi, a BJP MP and a senior functionary in the cricket board. The statements which emanated from New Delhi on Wednesday shocked many. They ridiculed the authorities in New Delhi by saying that they had let down India by agreeing to play cricket with the sponsor of terrorism. If one goes by the conduct of Arun Jaitley, Anurag Thakur and cricket chief Jagmohan Dalmia, then it can be said that there would be India-Pakistan cricket matches either at Dubai or in India in December. A report on Wednesday said that Jagmohan Dalmia would want the proposed matches to be held in India and it could happen considering the attitude of the BJP-led NDA Government.
There is something fundamentally wrong with the present dispensation in Delhi. No wonder persons like Arun Shourie and Subramanian Swami have started attacking the Modi government and his policies and many BJP MPs started questioning the so-called achievements of the Union Government.
