Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed directed issue of GMC land in Ghat Doda

DODA, May 14: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today issued directions for immediately setting up the prestigious Govt. Medical College (GMC) at Ghat Doda, with in a suitable or feasible chunk of land is acquired for permanent establishment of the GMC higher excellence at Doda and also inaugurated of new Administrative complex when he entered along with several ministers into the new complex of DC office in Doda This will pave way for immediately commencing of establishment of infrastructures.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Minister for Public Works or official work along with Dupty CM Nirmal Singh, Health & Medical Education Minister Ch. Lal Singh, MLA Doda Shakti Parihar, MLA Bhaderwah Dalip Singh , MLC Kishtwar Firdous Tak, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, DC Doda Bupinder Kumar, MD JKPCC and other senior officers during the tour.
Describing the sanction by the Government for establishment of GMC at Ghat Doda as a matter of honour and shot in the arm for higher education sector, Mufti Sayeed formed a Group of Ministers which will identify a suitable chunk of land for permanently establishing the Govt. Medical College, There are certain proposals presently under the active consideration of the Government, for the time being so that it continues to function smoothly without any hassles.
However, State government has sought the release of funds from the Union government for setting up of new medical colleges in the J&k state at Kathua, Doda and Rajouri in Jammu region and Baramulla and Anantnag in Kashmir region to increase 500 Medical seats in the state, 100 each in these Medical colleges.
Mufti said, Medical Colleges have been sanctioned for Doda and the amount for its set up has also been sanctioned. Soon it would come up in working condition. He said that this decision has been taken due to problems being faced by the people of erstwhile Doda district in general and particularly the people living in tough terrains and hilly belts of the district. These are not mere announcements instead the amount to establish infrastructure of Medical College too stand released and soon you will see the work to construct buildings of Medical Colleges would start with full swing, and people also pertinent its your kindness to us if our children would not have to go far off either at Jammu or in other states of the country for Medical Education, our children would become doctors in Doda also in many other places, It would provide advance medical facilities to one and all irrespective of any caste or religion, each GMC will be constructed at the cost of Rs 190 crore each, JKPCC is the executing agency of the said project, he said.
