Jammu leaders playing second fiddle to Kashmir centric parties

early times report
JAMMU, Nov 29: With Jammu centric parties playing second fiddle to Kashmir centric parties heading the state governments from time to time, there is a leadership vacuum in Jammu.
The BJP which had generated a hope among people since the prajaparishad days by leading a nationalist movement in the state and opposing the permit system is a divided house in the state as out of 11 MLAs seven have already been expelled by the Party for cross voting in MLCs elections in 2010.
According to sources the failure of BJP to perform the opposition role and take up the cause of Jammu people vigorously in the Assembly and outside has been a cause of concern among the people and they feel totally dejected as the majority of Jammuites had pinned high hopes in the Party that it will emerge as their real representative.
This was the main reason that Jammuites also supported it at hustings in past too, sources said, adding but with the cross voting episode the people feel dejected with the Party as their hopes have been dashed to ground as its leadership as well as rebel MLAs are in race to seek good will of Chief Minister and ruling National Conference putting the contentious issues and public problems in cold storage.
The BJP after expelling the seven MLAs from the party seems to be a rudderless hip in the state and since then the Party has not overcome its internal crisis, sources, said adding instead of learning a lesson from the cross voting episode and working to rejuvenate the Party, the state leadership has created many more contradictions in the Party and some leaders are not seeing eye to eye with each other.
Under such circumstances how can people expect from the Party to champion their cause, sources said, adding the Party has no vigor and vitality to take on the Government for its wrong policies as the present leadership does not want to lose the goodwill of Government.
The rebel MLAs too could not do any thing expected during last two years and instead they also entered into a competition with the leadership of their parent party to surpass them in building bridges with NC and seek the goodwill of Government, sources said.
Same has been the case with NPP and it too have not left any remarkable impact on the people that the Party is committed for their cause as has been seen in case of PDP or NC in Kashmir region. The two mainstream political parties of Kashmir identified themselves with the problems of the masses of the Valley, which BJP or NPP could not do in Jammu.
This attitude of Jammu based parties has perturbed the masses who after being fed up with the role of the political parties whom they banked for years tighter are left with no alternative but to also throw their fate in the hands of the ruling alliance or main opposition party in the state.
