Peerzada distributes Rs. 7.10 lakh among NBA beneficiaries

ANANTNAG: Minister for Floriculture and Haj & Auquf, Peerzada Mohammad Syed, today distributed cheques worth Rs. 7.10 lakh amongst 74 beneficiaries of Damhal Panchayat Halqa in block Achhabal for developing their toilet units under Nirmal Bharat Abhyan programme.
Besides, the Minister also gave away cheques to five deserving beneficiaries as second instalment under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) at the rate of Rs. 35,000 each for construction of dwelling units in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government was committed to provide better facilities to the people, especially in the rural and far-flung areas and several people friendly programmes have been launched for the purpose. He said Nirmal Bharat Abhyan programme, which is a flag-ship programme of Central Government aimed at to provide assistance to the rural people for developing their toilet units under sanitation campaign. Government bears the expenditure for establishing the toilet units by the inhabitants in their premises to ensure proper sanitation and neat and clean environment. He asked the people to take advantage of the scheme and establish the toilets units in their homes and help in maintaining the clean environment. He said that all panchayat halqas in the block Achhabal will be covered during the current fiscal.
Similarly, the IAY is also a flagship programme of Central Government and rural people living below the poverty line are eligible for the benefits for construction of their dwelling units. He directed the officers to identify the deserving beneficiaries so that the benefits of the scheme reach out to the needy.
He called upon the officers of various departments to create awareness amongst the people to popularize various Government schemes so that people can avail benefits of these schemes. He asked the people to coordinate with the administration in ensuring overall development in all vital sectors.
