Soz wants SC to take cognizance of Giriraj's statement | | | Srinagar, Apr 20: : Prof. Saifuddin Soz President Pradesh Congress Committee has said that it was high time that the Supreme Court of India takes suo-moto notice of the 'blatant and brazen violation of the Election Code of Conduct' by the BJP Leader Giriraj Singh, who is contesting Nawada Lok Sabha seat in Bihar. According to a statement issued, Soz said: "This man has temerity to say that those opposing Mr. Modi won't have place in India and they have to go to Pakistan. Since the Election Commission of India have already shown weakness of its nerve by allowing Amit Shah to resume his campaign in UP, forgiving for his extremely condemnable hate speech thus, the election Commission had itself allowed open promotion of sectarian and Communal politics." He added: "I say it as a citizen of India that no individual / institution of Governance in India is above law and nobody can be allowed to disregard constitution of India, which provides equal status before law for all citizens of India, irrespective of caste, colour and creed." Soz said: "Giriraj Singh would not have felt bold (although. It is his cowardice) to repeat the condemnable statement today, if Amit Shah had been debarred from resuming campaign in UP. The least that should happen is that Giriraj Singh should be arrested immediately and debarred from contesting the elections. I feel that Election Commission of India does not realize, in full measure, that the generation of hate and rapid sectarianism in which Giriraj Singh and Amit Shah have openly indulged happened to be the early rumblings of the fascist system that Mr. Modi is seeking to establish in India." |
