Jammu, Apr 20: Former DIG Israr Khan, better known as Lali Khan is likely to join National Conference. He gave indication to this effect during a seminar organized in a BEd college at Tarore in district Samba.
However, Khan when contacted while expressing his willingness to join a political party did not divulge anything with regard to party's name. " Yes I want to be a politician for the betterment of society ....I am thinking to contest election of Legislative Assembly which is expected to be held after six months", a former SSP of the district Samba said.
In the seminar, Khan lashed out at his colleague Farooq Khan, former IGP, who has joined BJP recently. Khan's statement came two days ago when former IGP leveled allegations of rigging during poll. Reacting over the statement by the former IGP and BJP activist, Khan said that the former IGP is shouting over the rigging during Lok Sabha elections ,only after he joined BJP , " why he did not speak when rigging took place in earlier elections during his police men ship",he questioned.
He further said that he had long tenure as SSP Samba and during his tenure , he treated all the parties at par. He said he would give equal importance to every party, though some politicians of the area put pressure on him to give undue favour to them. " Many a time,I objected the senior politician over the wrong intention and asked him to shift me from this chair if you can", Khan said.
Pertinently, former IGP & BJP leader Farooq Khan accused the National Conference of creating an "atmosphere of fear and uncertainty" to discourage people from participating in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Farooq Khan, while reacting sharply on the statement of National Conference (NC) president and its candidate for Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Dr Farooq Abdullah that Army facilitated the People's Democratic Party (PDP)'s victory in 2002 Assembly elections, he said that it is an attempt to divert the people's attention from their failures. NC leaders are leveling false and baseless allegations on Indian Army and even on BJP and are browbeating central leadership on one pretext or the other with a sole motive of exploiting the innocent Kashmiris.
Dr. Abdullah should not forget that it was the brave Jawans of army alongwith Jammu Kashmir police, and para-military forces, which on one hand brought back peace to the state, through unparallel sacrifices and on the other resurrected destroyed schools, hospitals, guest houses, restored bridges, Mosques, Mazars and drinking water supplies and provided free medical care and goodwill schools to the suffering Kashmiris, while he himself was enjoying in London. He said it was NC which exploited the situation in 1996 and once again grabbed power, courtesy- mobile and fake voters and after return to power in 1996 the NC did not care to utter even a single word about the sacrifices of large number of officers and men of Indian Army which had freed the state from the clutches of terrorists. Khan also lauded the unparallel contribution and sacrifices of Indian Army, since 1947 for the safety and security of the people of J&K and the great nation of India.
Castigating Union Minister Farooq Abdullah, Khan said NC leaders, after seeing the writing on the wall and their defeat in the Parliamentary elections, are in panic and now trying to drag the Indian Army in an unnecessary controversy. BJP condemns all such nefarious attempts of maligning the fair name of Indian Army which as an institution is considered to be absolutely impartial in political matters, he said.
Commenting upon the recent statement of Dr. Farooq Abdullah wherein he has desired to use terrorists and bombs to liquidate his political opponents, Khan demanded that the agencies investigating the murder of a Sarpanch belonging to a particular political party in Kashmir yesterday, must look into the role of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his party in this incident and he should be arrayed as an accused for instigating this murder through his utterances. Khan asked the people to be aware of the tactics and politics of National Conference and reject its game plan for power grab, for the larger interests of peace, prosperity and brotherhood in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Coming on the profile of Israr Khan, he was promoted and posted as DIG Trainings PHQ. The order to the effect was issued by the Govt on29th Nov, just a day before his retirement on 1st Dec 2013. A multifarious personality and highly competent Senior police officer, who is better known as Laly Khan was SSP Samba for the last three years. Khan a student leader during his college days, was also an approved artist of Radio, Stage and Doordarshan Kashmir.
