8 killed, 2 injured in Dachhan cab mishap
Poor road conditions continue to play with lives of people

Kishtwar, July 16: In another tragic road accident in the hilly district of Kishtwar, 2nd in last one week, eight people, including two police personnel, were killed while two others sustained injures when a Tata Sumo met with an accident near Pingrari, 55 km from here. The sumo bearing registration No. JK14-8968 was on its way from Dangduru (Dachhan) to Kishtwar. It fell from a height of 500 ft into river Marru Sudar, a tributary of river Chenab. Among the dead, two were police personnel, including an ASI and a constable, two kids, a lady and driver of the vehicle.
The two injured were shifted to District Hospital, Kishtwar, where doctors were attending on them. The condition of both the injured was said to be out of danger. As soon as news of accident reached Kishtwar, a police party from nearby police police post immediately swung into action and started rescue and relief operation with the help of locals. Army personal from nearby camp also rushed to the accident site along with medical help and shifted the two injured to District Hospital in private vehicles. The rescuers had so far recovered the bodies of only 5 five persons and efforts were on to retrieve the remaining three dead bodies believed to have been washed away by the strong water currents.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar along with DIG DKR Ashkoor Ahmed Wani also rushed to the accident spot to supervise the rescue operation. They also visited the hospital and inquired about the health of injured.
While talking to " Early Times", the injured Sonia Raina said that she could not tell the exact reason behind the accident, but said that it took place all of a sudden and she found herself at the bottom of the hillock. She said that she climbed up to the road with the help of bushes and grass before people shifted her to hospital. Police has also register a case and started its investigation. The deceased were identified as Vidyalal ( 53 yrs) S/O Dass Ram R/o Janakpur Dachan, Driver Ghulam Hassan (36 yrs) s/o Habib shah R/o patimhalla, Constable Mangat Ram (36 yrs) S/o Narayan Dass R/o Hanzal, ASI Mushtaq Ahmed ( 42 yrs) R/o Juda Mohar Reasi, One minor girl Renu D/o Romesh Kumar R/o KalnoDachhan, Parvaiz Ahmed S/o GhulamRasool R/o DangdoroDachhan, Krishna (35 yrs) W/o Narayan Dass R/o KalnoDachan&Sachin Kumar (17 yrs) S/o Yashpal R/o KalnoDachhan Age 17 years. The injured presently undergoing treatment at District Hospital Kishtwar were identified as SoniRaina (32 yrs) wife of Rakesh Kumar R/o PanjdharaDachhan and Abdul Hamid (34yrs) son of Mohammed Ramzan resident of PinjrariDachhan.
Meanwhile several political and non political leaders including MoS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammed Saroori, JKNPP state Secretary Anil Parihar, BJP National Youth executive member Sunil Sharma, Congress leaders Shamsher Singh Bhandari, Randeep Thakur, Tilak Raj Shan, Farooq Tapal, BJP leaders Ravi Kumar, Shashi Badyal, Rocky Ghoswami, BJYM President Ashish Sharma, PDP Youth President Mohammed Umar Malik, social activist Sanjeev Parihar, Raiz Ahmed Zarger, PAF President Shakir Siddiqui, NC Youth President ImtiyazZarger and others have expressed grief and shock over the loss of human life in this tragic road accident. All the mourners prayed to the almighty to give peace to the departed souls beside place for them in heaven. They also prayed to the almighty to give courage and strength to the family members of the deceased to bear this irreparable loss. Kishtwar-Dachhan road is under construction for the last over 30 years and has fallen to political and official apathy from time to time. Crores of rupees have been spent on its maintenance. The condition of the road is worst as successive governments have turned blind eye towards the sufferings of the people living in this area. This is the 2nd major accident in Kishtwar in last one week. Earlier 9 employees of sheep husbandry department including District Sheep and husbandry officer Kishtwar beside a veterinary surgeon died in road accident at Sinthan top last week.
