Jammu, July 16: Neha Lahotra's soliloquy entitled "Parchhaiyaan" today held the audience captive as her flawless performance produced a scintillating tale of a dead lady coming out of a dry well to announce her family's slow and painful bereavement. The 25 minutes saga of oscillating and fluctuating emotions of the dead girl towards her family was a piece of a natural act portrayed by Neha who rose to the occasion to gather thunderous applause from the jam packed audience at K L Saigal hall. The play authored and directed by Vikram Sharma for Shivani Cultural Society was the part of the ongoing Jammu Natya Utsav being held at the same venue. How a flourished family of three women including a mother and two daughters lose everything to the drastically changing circumstances of the life reducing their entire recognition and place in the society to mere ashes was the gist of "Parchhaiyaan" which the last dead girl comes back to living audience to narrate. The stage settings of dry leaves and broken tree branches with a spider web knit on the cyclorama added to the withering legacy of the family while the actor in front gelled well with her histrionics as a mature performer.
Director Doordarshan Anjali Sharma as chief guest on the occasion lauded the efforts of Shivani Cultural Society and heaped praises on Neha Lahotra for her matured performance. She said such activities help the actor mature over the period of time as a class actor and also gives opportunity to the people to watch the best theatrical activities in the state.
