Jammu, July 16: Much awaited Shree Shakti Express just after a day of its maiden drive on Delhi-Katra route put the concerned Railway authorities on their heels as the said express reached atleast 2 hours late this morning after it got stick in a tunnel some few kms away from the Katra Railway Station.
The Railway authorities were seen completely occupied in getting the train out the tunnel and to give a respite to the stranded passengers who were on their dream journey. In an abrupt technical snag the Delhi-Katra special 'Shree Shakti Express' this morning got stuck up in one of the tunnels (tunnel no. 27) few kilometers short of holy town Katra in Reasi district due to which other train traffic on the same track also got effected especially the DMU between Katra to Jammu in which many of the daily travelers used to travel. ''The train scheduled to reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station Katra this morning at around 0510 hrs, reached late from its scheduled time,'' a senior railway official from Katra told. One of the daily passenger of Local Train DMU namely Ramesh Kumar of Udhampur told Early Times that the Jammu Katra DMU today left Katra at 11:22 am i.e. some 1hr 15 mins late and reached Jammu Railway Station at about 2:00 pm following the track jam due to Shree Shakti Express this morning affecting the normal routine of daily passengers . A Railway Official on promised anonymity told that with the undue halt of Shree Shakti Express all others local train between Jammu-Udhampur got adversely affected. Jugal Sharma Station Master Katra Railway Station said that the train got late from its schedule after one of tyre of engine got stuck on track in one of tunnel clogging the track. He said the track was slippery due to the recent rains in Katra and the tyre after a slip clogged with track jamming the engine.
"Soon after receiving the information, he said adding, "an engine was called in from Udhampur Station which pushed the train through the tunnel towards main Station. He also added that they are investigating the matter and trying to find out the reason behind the halt.' Meanwhile he outrightly rejected the reports of power failure caused some snag and said that the train remained halted for some time in the tunnel. Pertinently, Prime Minister NarendraModi on July 4 had announced the train service while inaugurating the Katra station and a train service between Delhi and Katra -AC superfast 'Shri Shakti Express' departed from New Delhi station Tuesday. It is scheduled to leave at 5:30 pm daily from the national capital and arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station at 5:10 am the next day but it gave a scary experience to its passengers here this morning.
