JAMMU, Nov 12: Lucky enough to reach the league round, the men team of hosts University of Jammu (JU) today registered their second consecutive win to confirm second place in the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Handball Championship on the campus grounds, here. In the second league outing, JU defeated Kurukshetra University by a wafer thin margin of one point with final score on board being 31-30. Earlier, JU made a positive start finishing the first half ahead of their fighting opponent (16-14). However, after the breather, both side played a fast game and remained neck to neck till the last move. Tied at 30-30 at last time-out, JU proved to be lucky after they netted a goal in the last minute of the play and then managed to foil the counter attack. Kurukshetra University has lost both their league matches. Now, the third and final league tie, scheduled for the concluding day tomorrow, JU shall take on Punjab University Chandigarh. The visiting side of Punjab University has a win and a loss in the two matches they have played so far. Earlier, today's league ties witnessed besides others by president of J&K Handball Association, S M Bali and Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau. Today's league matches conducted by the technical penal including Anoop Singh, Karamveer Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Vikas Sharma, Karun Magotra, Govind Ram, Prabhleen Kour, Priya Charak, Bhanu Priya, Roshni Sharma, Pooja Sharma and Ashish Dogra and Rahul Bakshi.
