Early Times Report
BUDGAM, Nov 12: The National Conference leaders are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters. In majority of the Assembly segments across state especially those being represented by NC stalwarts, the official machinery is being misused by the leaders and Ministers from National Conference in one way or the other. This has lead to violation of model code of conduct in several districts of the state , but the district administration seem to be unmoved with all these illegal practices which is total against the norms of Election Commission of India.
The ruling party which could not provide proper power supply to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for almost six years is using the official machinery like district administration , Power Development Department (PDD) to undertake all illegal acts in several areas of Kashmir valley and many parts of Jammu region.
The authorities particularly the district administration Budgam are providing power transformers to villagers of Charar-i-Sharief Assembly constituency through National Conference (NC) workers only. The party workers take these transformers to various villages in processions and they ensure that NC's party flag is attached with the transformer.
"All this is being done at the behest of Finance Minister A R Rather who represents Charar-i-Sharief Assembly constituency, for years our villages were kept in dark by the authorities, and now when elections are just a few weeks ahead the workers of NC try to befool people by all these dirty tricks," alleged a local Farooq Ahmad from Kathair Budgam
Pertinently the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had also alleged that Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather and his son are using money and ration to woo the people towards them so as to ensure that they cast votes in favour of National Conference in the upcoming Assembly elections in Charar-i-Sharief Assembly constituency of central Kashmir's Budgam district. PDP senior leader and party's candidate for Charar-i-Sharief Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura allegedly that Abdul Rahim Rather has assigned the said job to his business tycoon son Hilal Rather who according to Lone is distributing cash and ration among the voters in remote areas of Charar-i-Sharief Assembly segment.
"In several areas the authorities have kept power transformers on the verandas and compounds of NC workers and from these places they are taken to such areas who promise to vote for NC and this is totally a violation of model code of conduct," said Nazir Ahmad a resident of Nagam Budgam.
