Early Times Report

BUDGAM, Nov 12: The 'Voluntary Service Allowance' which was aimed at giving some respite to the unemployed youth under the hyped Sher i Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme has drawn flak as this scheme has failed to deliver.
The unemployed youth who got themselves registered to get benefits of this scheme have termed it a simple act of cheating because for the last one and half year nothing has been credited in their accounts.
Hilal Ahmad from Budgam said, while talking to the Early Times that he still remembers the words of Ali Mohammad Sagar that "The agonies of the unemployed youth of the state are over and I request them to get themselves registered with the employment exchanges as the government is going to introduce the' Sher i Kashmir Employment and welfare programme' which is aimed at providing voluntary service allowances to the unemployed youth of the state,". But, as per Hilal, these claims of the Omar lead government have proved to be a damp squib as this scheme has died a sudden death because for the last eighteen months or so nothing has been credited in the accounts of the unemployed youth, adding to their already existing woes.
Like Hilal there are many other unemployed youth who got themselves registered. These youth say that the process of registration is not all that easy as one has to go through a series of formalities which are even tougher than the formalities required to get selected for the government services. "The government has no concerns for the growing problems of the unemployment.
The 'Voluntary Service Allowances' scheme which was introduced by the Omar Abdullah lead government hasn't served its purpose as it has collapsed midway, leaving the aspirants high and dry," said Bilal Ahmad from ChewaBudgam, who is also registered with the employment exchange.
Failure of the Sheri Kashmir Employment and welfare programme has doubled the miseries of the unemployed youth of the state.
