Bovine smuggler held, 15 animals rescued

Jammu, Nov 12: Police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid with the arrest of a bovine smuggler and rescuing fifteen (15) bovine animals which were illegally transported in a truck during a surprise checking in a locality falling under jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari. Police identified the arrested bovine smuggler as Khaleel Khan of Balakote Mendhar. "The arrest was made by police team led by Inspector Kulbir Singh Choudhary and ICPP Gadigarh SI Vishal under the supervision of SDPO South S.Harjeet Singh, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand, police sources said. Police sources said, "During naka checking police intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-1279 and occupant of truck failed to procure requisite documents for transportation of animals.' "The accused was arrested on spot and police rescued 15 bovine animals loaded in an inhuman condition in the said truck, police sources said. Police have seized the truck and have registered a case under FIR No 176/2014 u/s 188 of RPC and 3 of PCA Act at Police Station Satwari in this regard.
