State Govt to pay rent to flood-affected families in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 21 : Jammu and Kashmir government will provide monthly rent to families whose houses were damaged in the devastating floods in September. So far, Rs 130 crore relief has been distributed among the victims. State Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday said the families whose residential houses were fully damaged and are not willing to live in fabricated huts or tents shall be paid rent charges for four months during winter season.He said that Rs 5,000 would be provided to each affected family in Srinagar city as rent charges, while Rs 3,500 would be paid to those living outside Municipal limits.Khanday said that those who are living in villages would be paid Rs 2,000 per month as rent charges for four months. Meanwhile, officials said that Public Works Department (PWD) is constructing 503 residential structures for flood victims in the valley. Several NGOs are also constructing residential structures for them which includes 107 sheds in Srinagar city, 38 sheds in Shopian and 15 each in Pulwama and Anantnag districts. |
