DC Kishtwar chairs winter preparedness cum development review meet | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Dec 11: Keeping in view the severe winter at hand which often let remote areas cut off in mountainous district of Kishtwar, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan today held a developmental cum winter preparedness meeting at New DC office complex Kishtwar to take stock of preparedness of administration to handle upcoming winter situation especially in remote areas and to check the piling of stock essential commodities. While chairing this high level meeting, DC Kishtwar directed all the officials to take stock of availability of essential commodities like LPG, Kerosene Oil, Ration and other important material. Khan also directed R&B department to make snow clearance machines ready and do necessary ground work for keeping the machines mechanically fit so that they could be used at the time of emergency and also stressed for close coordination of various District officers for effective functioning of the administration during snow days. RDD has also been asked to prepared comprehensive plan to prevent any electricity related incident, beside the plan to restore electricity with immediate effect as and when snowfall stops. He also directed the officials to expedite the developmental work, and directed them to finish all such works before the closure of financial year. All the sectoral officers and District Officers attended the meeting and assured DC Kishtwar full cooperation on their part to meet out the demands of the public during winter. Talking to "Early Times", DC Kishtwar said that the main thrust of the administration is to keep Batote-Kishtwar National Highway through for regular vehicular movement which will ensure free flow of essential commodities during snowfall days. "Developmental front of various ongoing project was also discussed wherein several on spot decision were taken to address the bottle necks, he added. He also showed concern over delay in execution of Rs 53 Crore Naigard Water supply and favored stern action against the contractor who is involved in unnecessary delay in execution of work. He stressed for expediting of work on Rs 40 Crore RGGVY scheme which will ensure electricity to Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan and Padder areas of Kishtwar District. He also directed the electricity department to chack on power theft, beside directed all the District officers to clear the pending electricity bills so that the target of Rs 26 crore revenue collection set by the government could be achieved. |
