Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 11: BJP President, Amit Shah who addressed election rallies in Srinagar and South Kashmir, was told by people in attendance that though they support local BJP candidate, but they were opposed to policies of BJP like abrogating Article 370 .
Talking to Early Times, people who participated in one such rally in a Mashwara area of South Kashmir's Shopian District said that they only support their local candidate Javaid Ahmad Qadri who is contesting on BJP ticket from Shopian and lives in neighborhood and not the policies of BJP like abrogating article 370.
"Since no party did any developmental work for us ever, we have high hopes from Javaid. Javaid lives in my neighbourhood, we have no other option except to vote for him, I do not support BJP policies like abrogating Article 370, I only support Javaid,I do not know BJP Manifesto, I came here for Javaid not for BJP and their policies " Said Ali Muhammad, a local.
Party workers including BJP woman District President for Shopian Dilshada Akhter admitted fear amongst the masses and said that 'participation is still minimal, as it is a national party. Yet around 200 women are joining BJP.'
Pertinently, as BJP is working on its Mission 44+, Amit Shah is the first leader of BJP to reach in this far flung area of Shopian which was once considered hub of militants.
Amit Shah while addressing people said that Omar Abdullah is third generation of his family ruling Jammu and Kashmir but he has not done anything for people and claimed that now people of Kashmir have decided to join hands with BJP for development and prosperity. He said that New Delhi has been giving Rs 8000 crore to Jammu and Kashmir annually meant for the development but according to him whole amount sanctioned for the state so far has gone into the pockets of state politicians and added that Omar led regime has failed to reach the flood victims of Kashmir and claimed that it was BJP government which reached to people of Kashmir during floods and sent Rs 1700 crore for the relief of flood victims when politicians of Kashmir were in England.
Expressing restrictions of MCC as reason not to give anything during his visit to Kashmir today, Amit shah said that he will keep demands of people in his heart and added that BJP has a plan to make Kashmir more attractive than Switzerland which has a tourism potential more than any country of the world and capacity to generate electricity and give uninterrupted power supply to people of Jammu and Kashmir and to the rest of the country as well which has not happed so far due to prevailing corruption in the state administration.
