| JAMMU, Dec 11: The BJP is in serious trouble in Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Rajouri districts which are going to the polls on December 14 and December 20. These districts return to the Assembly as many as 22 members. The assembly segments which will go to the polls in the remaining two phases of election include Nagrota, Gandhinagar, Jammu East, Jammu West, Bishnah, RS Pura. Suchetgarh, Marh, Raipur Domana, Akhnoor, Chhamb, Bani, Basohli, Kathua, Billawar, Hiranagar, Samba, Vijaypur, Nowshara, Darhal, Rajouri and Kalakot. If insiders are to be believed, then it can be said that the BJP will win 21 out of these 22 seats. "Barring Darhal, the BJP will win all the remaining 21 seats," an insider has claimed. However, the ground situation in many assembly constituencies doesn't suggest that the BJP is not on a very commanding position. It will not be a cakewalk for the BJP in many of these constituencies. The assembly constituencies where the contest could be very tough for the BJP are Bani, Basohli, Kathua, Billawar, Hiranagar, Samba, RS Pura, Gandhinagar, Jammu West, Akhnoor, Marh, Kalakot, Rajouri, and even Vijaypur and Suchetgarh. These are the constituencies where the BJP has fielded "weak" candidates. Only the Modi factor can help theBJP win election. It is a different story that PM Modi has disillusion many in these districts and that the Congress is not being able to encash this disillusionment. In Marh and Suchetgarh, the BJP has repeated its sitting MLAs and there the anti-incumbency could work against the BJP. The people are not happy with the sitting BJP MLAs as their performance in the assembly as well as their own constituencies was not up to the mark. They only advanced their own personal interests. In the constituencies like Bani, Kathua, Billawar, Hiranagar, Samba, RS Pura, Kalakot, Rajouri and Nowshara, there is the possibility of internal sabotage. These are the constituencies where either rebel candidates or those who were denied the party ticket could spoil the victory chances of the BJP.It is pertinent to mention here that most of these constituencies are predominantly Hindu and the BJP poll managers are confident that the BJP will put up a god show in all these constituencies. At the same time, they know it full well that the prevailing situation in many of these constituencies is not that promising for the BJP. That's the reason the BJP high command has unleashed a relentless campaign in these four districts and made many central leaders to campaign there. It remains to seen how these bigwigs would motivate the electorate to vote for the BJP candidates. |
