When NC henchmen try to gag BJP spokesman | | Abodh Sharma | 12/12/2014 12:05:36 PM |
| Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 11: Rendered totally exposed and off guard by the BJP spokesman who raised the issue of death of Haji Yousuf in a famous election special program of Doordarshan's National channel recorded in Jammu the previous day, NC henchmen who were present amongst the invited audience tried not only to gag the BJP representative, but also sabotage the program itself. The incident happened during the recording of the program at the lawns of Hotel Hari Niwas where BJP representative and party spokesperson Sunil Sethi raised the issue of Haji Yousuf's killing. NC representative and former provincial president of the party Rattan Lal Gupta was caught woefully off-guard by the issue raised by Sunil Sethi. Rattan Lal attacked BJP representative, accusing him of launching personal attack on the Chief Minister and he was soon joined by NC supporters present in the audience who paraded towards the stage, raising slogans and tried to gag the BJP spokesman. "No personal attack, you tell the audience how you will get 44+ seats," Gupta shouted little realizing that Sethi had not mentioned the Chief Minister at all. The anchor of the program and some eminent citizens present in the audience intervened to restore the order after which further recording of the program could be possible. Sethi, however said that State government had befooled the people by setting up a Commission of Inquiry (Bedi Commission) in the murder of Haji Yousuf. "Commissions are never set up to inquire into murder cases. They need to be criminally investigated after filing an FIR", Sethi argued. NC was also grilled over the issue of deep rooted corruption in the government and transfer industry supported and fostered by Ministers of coalition government. "What does the NC representative has to say over the corruption and transfer industry?," asked a leading businessman of the city. Cornered by the question, Gupta confessed that menace of corruption was there in the state administration. He argued that NC had rejuvenated anti graft institutions in the state, but failed to explain why cases against several ministers and MLAs were pending for years. Pertinent to mention that Haji Yousuf's killing had triggered a fresh war of words between Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and then IGP Crime and now PDP candidate from Uri, Raja Aijaz Ali. |
