Kishtwar, Feb 15: The reports of embezzlement in distribution of ration at government run Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department ration distribution fair price shops has become a routine matter in Kishtwar District as the authorities fail to address the public grievances after several public complaints were lodged with them by the people.
In one such latest incident, the residents of Filler - B Panchayat of Thakrie today held a strong protest against the shortage of ration at Fair price shop's. As per the details available with "Early times", the people different villages of Thakrie block today assembled at Shanna village where they held a strong protest after the local dealer Gulab Singh who runs Fair Price Shop in the area informed the people that as per the direction of the department, he (dealer) is going to distribute on 5 Kg Rice to per Ration Card against 35 Kg free ration as approved scale by the government; on which the people refuses to take ration on such scales and in anger double lock the ration shop as a mark of protest, beside to aware the higher authorities about such routine malpractice.
The locals informed the "Early times" that the dealer also denied the ration to the villagers for the month of December 2014 which is still pending.
