JPUF holds protest to incorporate Jammu's issues in CMP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 15: Amid the structured dialogue over the Government formation in the state of Jammu & Kashmir between the BJP and the PDP to draft a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) for cobbling up a ruling alliance in the state, Jammu Pradesh United Front (JPUF) staged one day 'Dharna' at Indira Chowk here today which was led by JPUF leaders who raised slogans to impress upon both the parties to incorporate the most coveted issue of CM incumbent from Jammu region, granting State Subject rights to West Pak refugees, settlement of POJK/Chamb refugees of 1947, 65 and 71, rehabilitation of border migrants and granting ST status to Gujjars and Bakarwals in the CMP. Uday Chand, Core member and the Spokesman JPUF, while addressing the media revealed that the front shall keep a strict vigil on the BJP that they do not deviate from their assurances mentioned in their "Vision Document" ahead of Assembly elections held last year. He said that before the Lok Sabha elections last year, BJP had promised the West Pak refugees to accord Permanent Resident (State Subject) rights to them within a year if they were voted to power. Moreover one time settlement of POJK/Chamb refugees of 1947, 65 and 1971 were also enshrined in the manifesto of the BJP ahead of Assembly elections. Chand asserted that now when the time is ripe it becomes a moral responsibility of the BJP to incorporate the demand of the refugees in the CMP on the first priority otherwise it would be a gross betrayal with them. " Since the people of Jammu had voted overwhelmingly in favor of the BJP keeping the hope of CM of Jammu Pradesh in mind the BJP must respect the clear cut mandate of the people by at least pressing upon the CM from Jammu Province on 'rotational basis' while chalking out the CMP with the PDP", Chand said. "If BJP-PDP alliance could not incorporate the issues favoring Jammu Pradesh in the CMP then in that case the BJP should prefer to sit in the opposition and fight for the cause of the people of Jammu region and their aspirations", Kesari said. |
